St. Mary's Lighthouse - Evening

Sunday the 7th of August
St Mary's Lighthouse, Whitley Bay - 6:00pm - 2 hours
Join Instructor Jenny for a lovely, chilled evening at St Mary's Lighthouse in Whitley Bay. Sunset will be at around 9ish so we'll be able to enjoy that cooler, late evening sun. In this session we will be primarily focusing on composition, understanding the rule of thirds, use of leading lines, and layers of foreground, midground and background. This will be a great session to bring your tripod to. Don't worry if you don't have one, you will still be able to take beautiful photos and as always people can take it in turns borrowing mine. This session is mobile phone friendly, so if you do not yet have a bridge camera or DSLR, you will still be able to join in and get a lot from the session. Depending on what the tide is doing we will either walk along the cliff edge or heading down onto the rocks. Please wear suitable footwear and expect to get a little bit soggy. It will be slippery on the rocks.

As always, I am happy for people to borrow mine if it's their first time using a tripod. If you do not have a bridge camera or a DSLR camera, please don't be put off. This is also a great beginner session to come to with your mobile phone. I am happy to teach low light techniques with mobile phones as well. It was great, really helpful in giving me the confidence to properly start to get to grips with my new camera. Jenny's clearly very knowledgeable, and keen to share. I wasn't expecting to shoot portraits of other learners, they're actually the best shots I took!

Nice and informal. Made to feel at ease. Great that it was limited in numbers as a beginners class. Jen was on hand and more than happy to help with any camera questions no matter how silly. Very informative and I came away with some knowledge on how to actually use the manual mode!
