Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Newcastle.

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

    The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

    For some time I've been trying to produce high quality city scape photographs, and with Jenny's help and experience, I was able to do it for the first time! Yay! Really enjoyed doing the night time city light trails, panoramas and experimenting with silhouettes and ghosting of people. Highly recommend going along to this session. I love the end result images I've achieved - so worth the cost and time, and gaining from Jenny's wealth of knowledge. Thank you!

    Jenny first showed an interest in photography at 16 when her family got their first digital camera and at 21 she invested in her first DSLR camera.
    She started by documenting family events and as friends started having children, she started documenting their families, gaining experience as a family photographer. Knowing she had knowledge gaps she took on her first photography course at the age of 24.
    Over the years she has experimented with various styles and genres doing everything from event photography to more experimental photography including Light Painting and Levitation.
    She has taken photos at many prestigious venues and companies over the years including Sage Gateshead and BBC Newcastle.

    Apart from the fact that i love to walk around the quayside taking images. I had a new lens I was trying out for the easter weekend at Brands Hatch. My 17 year old grandson is racing in the junior saloon car championships, after winning a 12 month scholarship for the 2024 season. He wants to make sure I take the best images for him! so invested in a new lens, and where better than to test it out, than the iconic quayside.Thank you for asking me to send this in, hopefully the North East will

    Title or Location: Little Haven Beach in South Shields looking over to the Herd Groyne Lighthouse
    I was walking along the path at the back of the beach heading for the Herd Groyne Lighthouse and could see it through the dunes and loved they way the grass was blowing right towards the Lighthouse, almost pointing the way, it gave it a nice bit of foreground interest and a good composition with the Lighthouse to the right and Tynemouth Priory in the background to the left which balanced the composition off nicely. Shot on Sony A7IV with Tamron 28-200 lens, ISO 100 @ 50mm, f4, 1/320s

    Title or Location: Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve, New Zealand.
    I went on my first overseas holiday to New Zealand with my partner to visit his family and we visited Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve. The steam in the photo is from its famous explosive Geyser. It was about 2pm during the day and I used a IPhone 14 Max Pro. I tweaked the image using Adobe Lightroom removing a couple of imperfections and adjusted the vibrancy.I'd highly recommend visiting this location as it's even more amazing and beautiful in person.

    Title or Location: Anzac memorial walk
    The Anzac memorial walk is one of my favourite places to be with great costal and city views of Newcastle city. I decided to capture some star exposures 100m around the corner at shepards hill complex and then a base for ground exposure of the anzacs on the bridge to create a stunning leading line capture to represent Australia's moto of always moving forward.

    Dearing the eclipse of 2017 my family and I sat in our backyard here in WA to watch the 93 totality with our eclipse glasses. With my homemade solar filter attached to my camera, I took a series of photos of the sun during the eclipse. After processing my sun photos, I was disappointed to see that the moon only showed up as a black hole and not its proper form. I am an avid shooter of Astro photography and have several photos of the moon taken from my backyard and multiple other locations. I

    I took this image on Nov. 2, 2021 at 7 am on Nov. 2, 2001 at 7 am. As I was driving around the Cove I came upon this Buck as I came up over a rise. I had a feeling that he was about to cross the road. My hunch was right. He crossed one fence and eventually crossed the other one. I was ready for his movement. I took a series over shots.
